The International Consortium for Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) will be releasing another list of documents, likely to reveal more names of popular personalities across the globe having offshore accounts.
In a message on Twitter, the ICIJ hinted at their “next project,” which will go public late Sunday. The consortium, however, did not divulge more information on the project.
In 2016, the ICIJ released some 11.5 million documents leaked from the database of a Panama-based law firm, Mossack Fonseca, exposing politicians, celebrities, businessmen and criminals who had set up offshore companies.
The documents included names of dozens of world rulers including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, Iceland’s PM Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson, Syrian president and Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif.
Sharif and his family came under fire at home after names of the premier’s children cropped up in the leaked documents from the Panamanian law firm.
The Supreme Court disqualified Nawaz Sharif – the third-time prime minister of the country – on July 28, 2017.
